Sending A Blanket Of Warmth To Terai

Cold wave has become one of the major threats to the lives of people living in the 23 districts in Terai during the winter season. The annual death toll and its impact on human lives is a clear indication of how much danger is posed by the cold waves. According to the reports of National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), the department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, cold wave has claimed the lives of 46 people across 15 districts over the past three years. Most of the human casualties were reported from the districts in the Terai belt. This year alone, the death toll across Terai has gone up to 24.

Locals of Terai districts have always been targeted when cold wave settles in. This year, we tried to do our bit to bring warmth for those suffering in the cold. With the help of our employees and friends, we managed to raise enough money within 24 hours to buy more than 90 blankets. Total of 93 blankets was distributed to the locals affected by the cold in Mayadevi VDC, Rupandehi Bhairahawa.  We collaborated with Koshish Foundation to make sure that each person’s contribution reached the right person.

We would like to thank each member of Spiralogics and everyone else who donated money to this noble cause. A special mention to Mr. Subash Gupta from UCMS for coordinating the distribution. We’re also grateful to Mr. Madan Gupta from Koshish Foundation for his continuous effort to provide relief materials to the people in need and helping Spiralogics be part of this.
