Spiralogics successfully conducted its first AI workshop titled “AI Workshop: Insights on Deep learning for Natural Language Processing” on 8th Dec, Saturday. There were total of over 45 participants which included IT students and AI enthusiasts. The program was held at Apex College, Mid-Baneshwor. Spiralogics is organising series of workshops throughout December as pre-events leading up to it’s main event – Spirathon. The workshop are done in collaboration with Nepal.ai community and will be held at various IT colleges in Kathmandu.
This year, Spirathon is focused on exploring and explaining the ways how AI can create positive impact on different aspects of our life. Spirathon-AI for Impact is not just any ordinary Appathon. It is a platform which will act as a driving force in encouraging the implementation of AI (especially in the Nepalese environment).
Mr. Ashwin Dhakal, Associate Software Engineer of Yomari and an avid AI researcher who has already published his paper in IEEE conference facilitated the workshop where he discussed over the following topics:
- Backgrounds on ML and AI on Natural Language Processing
- Pathway to learn ML and NLP
- Dataset Extraction and Preprocessing
- Dataset Visualization in seaborn plot analysis
- Feature Engineering from text
- Google News vector in 300 Dimensions
- Fuzzy Wuzzy Features in NLP
- Supervised Model Evaluation
- Design of ANN Architecture
- Concept of Hidden layers and activation function
- Confusion Matrix and evaluation of Results
The session started from the basics to AI concept to delving into creating their own ANN concepts. Mr. Ashwin, the speaker made sure that the audience were engaged and attentive by asking questions intermittently. The ones who correctly answered the questions were rewarded and also, two participants – one who answered the most questions and another who questioned the most were rewarded with Discount coupons worth Rs. 500 each from Cake Koseli. The whole session was very interactive and fun as the speaker used practical real life examples to explain the complex AI concepts in a simple way.
The program concluded with the Networking Session where participants interacted with each other and the speaker.
Spiralogics Family would like to thank Mr. Ashwin for taking out the time and conducting such an informative session. Also, a special mention to the Apex’s IT Club members for assisting our team during the workshop. You can check out our Facebook page for more updates on the upcoming AI workshop. The next AI workshop will be held at Softwarica College. The session is titled “SECOND AI Workshop: Art of using Naive Bayes for Binary Classification and Spam Detection” and will be facilitated by Mr. Ayush Subedi (Former CTO of Tootle, Co-founder of Moonlit Solutions).
